After three years’ worth of success in the local Admired in Africa awards, achieving first, third, fourth and top 10 over the three years, I wanted to gauge my work against international standards and be judged by international judges.

I started to take part in the Prowedaward platform, and it has been a learning curve. Images that I loved, and thought would do well didn’t do well at all and I had to re-imagine my work. This is exactly what I wanted, and it pushed my photography to the next level.

At the end of the year, I was awarded third-place wedding photographer in South Africa. This doesn’t make me the third best in South Africa at all, the work in South Africa is of an exceptionally high standard. I am taking part on This Platform Not for Bragging Rights, but to Learn and to Grow. I Also Entered Some Images in the Yearly Contest and I Achieved Three honours medals and one bronze medal. One of my pictures was also chosen as a shot of the year in the engagement shoot category. I will keep entering competitions because it helps me to increase my skill set and give my customers a better product at the end of the day.
